Profile

Born on 17 January 1997, Haseeb Hameed became the youngest England opener to make his Test debut when he featured in the playing XI in Rajkot, during England's five-Test trip of India in late 2016.

The Lancashire opener created an immediate impact - making a half-century in his debut Test in Rajkot. If his 82 was sublime, his unbeaten 59 in Mohali was even better as he battled a fractured finger. It was also his last knock of the tour, as he went back home for surgery on his broken finger.

The 19-year old was already earmarked for greatness having scored over 1,000 runs during the 2016 English domestic season, breaking Mike Atherton's record for the youngest Lancashire player to reach the landmark.
