West Indies
Jomel Warrican is a left-arm spinner from Barbados, who first rose to prominence after he was named in the West Indian squad for the Under - 19 World Cup in New Zealand in 2010. Jomel played three games and picked up 5 wickets. Warrican, who just had one List A game experience prior to his trip to New Zealand, is also a handy batsman lower down the order.
Warrican had a fantastic 2014-15 season. He finished the first-class season with 49 wickets at an average of 14.97. In fact, he took 8 wickets in an innings on two occasions. With Sulieman Benn struggling to keep his place and Veerasammy Permaul failing to make the most of his opportunity, a call-up to the national squad was not far away for Warrican.
His opportunity finally arrived when he was named in the Test squad for West Indies' tour of Sri Lanka in October 2015. He took Permaul's place in the squad. The slow left-armer had a dream start as he scalped 6 wickets in his debut Test at Colombo.
The tweaker then toured down under as a part of the squad and the not so friendly wickets in Australia did not help his cause. His bargains were expensive as he picked up only 5 wickets on the tour and conceded 380 runs.
