South Africa

Profile

Born to a South African father and a British mother, Dickson holds a UK passport and hence isn't considered as an overseas player for Kent. Dickson's claim to fame came in July, 2017, when he made 318 against Northamptonshire, the second highest score ever by a Kent batsman in first-class cricket - after Bill Ashdown's Kent record of 332, made against Essex in the 1934 season. He was involved in a record 382-run stand with Joe Denly, the highest partnership in the history of Kent - who eventually finished with 701 for seven declared - their second highest first-class score.

Dickson had featured in South Africa's provincial first-class tournament for Northerns before his UK move in 2015. He had a trial with Somerset, but it was Kent who were interested in acquiring his services and Dickson signed a contract in 2015. Having scored heaps of runs for the second eleven, the right-handed batsman made his List A debut against Warwickshire in 2015 and followed it up with his county championship debut against Derbyshire.
