Profile

An attacking left-handed middle-order batsman, Flynn progressed through the ranks onto the big stage. After serving as the captain of the New Zealand Under-19 team, Flynn earned a T20I call up in 2008 as a replacement for the injured Jacob Oram. He was given his Test and ODI debuts the same year on New Zealand's tour to England. In only his second Test, he was pinged on the grille of his helmet by James Anderson at such pace that he lost his two front teeth and was so bloodied that he took no further part in the match.

Undeterred, Flynn came back for the third Test at Nottingham, scoring a watchful 49 in the second innings, albeit in a losing cause. He put up some decent performances in Bangladesh, Australia and even in the home series against India. However, he struggled to convert his starts into substantial scores and was soon axed from set-up. Then, he made comebacks in 2012 and 2013 but to no avail with him failing to iron out the creases.

He continues to produce good performances for the Northern Districts at the domestic level. Flynn had also plied his trade for Dunfermline Knights, Scotland in the 2011 season.
