Profile

Sajedul Islam is a left-arm medium pacer who can swing the ball both ways. Born in Rangpur, Sajedul has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit. He made his first-class debut for Barisal Division in 2005. After a couple of quiet seasons, Sajedul shone in the 2007-08 season where he scalped 36 wickets in 8 matches, thereby finishing with an impressive average of 19.63. This performance forced the selectors to select him for the away Test series against New Zealand. He took part in both the games and performed poorly in both and was immediately dropped from the team.

He came back to the domestic arena and showcased his skills picking wickets regularly with the new ball. The 2013-14 season saw him taking 23 wickets in just 7 games at an average below 20 (18 to be precise). He was picked for the Zimbabwe Test series away from home and was drafted into the playing 11 for the second Test. He went wicketless in that match and had a terrible outing in his debut T20I game a couple of weeks later against the same opposition. He hasn't represented Bangladesh after that, but continues to be a prolific member in the domestic circuit.
