Profile

Following in the footsteps of Mashrafe Mortaza, Subashis Roy is a right-arm pacer from Bangladesh. Despite being one of the consistent performers in domestic cricket, he had to wait a little longer to earn his national cap.

Roy started his professional stint with the Cricket coaching school in the most renowned Dhaka league. Based on the advice of his coaches at the academy, the youngster remodeled his action which paid rich dividends for the him. He was soon picked in the Bangladesh's U-19 squad for the World Cup in 2008 at Malaysia purely on merit.

After a disappointing early exit for Bangladesh, Roy went back to the domestic circuit and whetted his skills. He emerged to prominence with back-to-back successful seasons in the Dhaka Premier League which was the catalyst for him to work his way into the Bangladesh Test squad.

Roy made his Test debut against New Zealand at Wellington in Jan 2017 where he picked up 3 wickets in the game. He continues to be a regular member of the team till now. Roy represents Chittagong Vikings in the Bangladesh Premier League.
