Profile

One of the newest entrants in the Cape Cobras squad, Simon Khomari is an aggressive left handed batsman who can chip in with his slow left-arm orthodox bowling as well. Someone who idolizes Jacques Rudolph and follows AB de Villiers' technique, Khomari made his first-class debut back in 2011 during the CSA Provincial Three-Day Challenge at Windhoek against Namibia. In his initial cricket career, Khomari batted in the lower order before he worked on his technique and was promoted up the order on the back of some decent batting performances. On his debut against Namibia, Khomari batted at number 9 and claimed 3 wickets in the drawn 3-day match.

Playing for Boland in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge at Paarl in March 2018, the southpaw scored his maiden List A century. Unfortunately, Khomari wasn't able to take his team over the line as they fell short of the target by 14 runs and he was the last man to be dismissed. Although, Khomari has followed AB de Villiers' technique, he hasn't been able to get anywhere closer to Mr. 360's strike rate, in any form of the sport. Being only 26, Khomari has still a long way to go and with the Cape Cobras he'll look to further improve his stats in domestic cricket. No doubt he has a good technique, but a bit of hard work and perseverance would be ideal for him to achieve more success.
