Profile

With an experience of more than 60 first-class matches, Dieter Klein is a fast-medium bowler who made his first-class debut more than a decade ago. He played his initial years of professional cricket for North West, where the South African hails from. The pacer was signed by Leicestershire in 2016 and since then he has represented them across all formats and has taken several wickets and played a handful of memorable knocks for the county club.

With more than 200 first-class wickets, Klein who's in his early 30s has still got a few years of cricket left in him. His highest first-class score came against Glamorgan in September 2018, where he shared a 100-run stand with Griffiths and smacked a brilliant 94 batting at number 10. The target set for Leicestershire in that contest was 403 and although Klein's contribution was 94, they fell short by 132 runs.

Klein's average in the limited-over formats is on the lower side, but he enjoys playing all the three formats. In 2017, he claimed 28 wickets in the County Championship that consisted of two five-wicket hauls that season. Klein has featured in the playing XI of Leicestershire on a regular basis during the Royal London One-day Cup and NatWest T20 Blast, with noteworthy performances.
