Profile

A canny left arm seamer by trade, the fateful tour of England in 2016 saw Chaminda Bandara being called up into the national reckoning for the first time, thanks to almost all the frontline bowlers on the injured brigade. He sprung into reckoning with his performances in the Premier League Tournament where he was the lone seamer to feature in the top wicket taker's list.

He started off playing for St. Mary's College in Kegalle before he moved on to bigger things playing for Sinhalese Sports Club, his First Class side, for almost five years before the national call up. His debut ODI against England was far from ideal. With 83 runs against his name in the ten overs, he found himself holding the unwanted record of the worst bowling spell on debut for Sri Lanka. But with serious ability to swing the ball into right-handers and a smart head on the shoulders, he could be a serious contender to reckon with in the future.
