Profile

Aged 24, Smagiliso was born in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Being a child Nhlebela had two options - either be a scientist or a sportsman. He chose the latter one and at the age of 20, Smangiliso put his first step in professional cricket as he made his first-class debut against Northerns at Centurion. The young left-arm spinner was outfoxed by his team-mate Keshav Maharaj who ended up claiming 8 wickets in the match. Though Nhlebela didn't have a significant contribution in that match, KwaZulu-Natal managed to thump Northerns by 7 wickets in the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup contest, courtesy the exceptional bowling spell by Keshav Maharaj.

Nhlebela who's a part of Dolphins, is also a fan of baseball and supports Yankees. Though cricket is a passion for the left-arm spinner, his other hobbies include - listening to music, watching sports and chilling with friends. And more than anything else, Nhlebela loves his family. With the presence of other world-class spinners in South African international team, it would be difficult for Nhlebela to breakthrough into that side, but he can be a handy spinner while playing in South Africa's domestic cricket and the Ramslam T20 tournament.
