James John Atkinson is a young and talented wicket-keeper batsman and also the current captain of the Hong Kong cricket team. He has also played for the Durham MCCU, Hong Kong Under-15s, Hong Kong Under-19s. He made his ODI debut at the tender age of 17 against Pakistan in the 2008 Asia Cup. With the debut making it to the record books, he also became the first person born in the 1990s to play a one-dayer.

In March 2014, he led Hong Kong in the World T20 in Bangladesh. After losing their first two games, Hong Kong finally achieved a victory against the hosts in the third game by 2 wickets.
