Profile

Harpreet Brar had his bags packed and he was all set to move to Canada and start a new life, but that was when destiny had something else in store for him. A prolific performer at age group tournaments, and having attended four trials knocking at the door of the Punjab franchise, he finally got his break in 2019. Hailing from Moga, Punjab, Harpreet Brar was initially fascinated by cricket after he saw Yuvraj Singh smash six sixes off Stuart Broad. He was keen to make a name for himself in the sport, but didn’t have the financial backing to follow this passion. Brar however got some support from former Indian cricketer Gurkeerat Singh Maan, who lent Harpreet his bat and old cricket gear.

Fast forward to 2019 and he was picked by Punjab Kings in the IPL, but his chances were few and far in between. Brar played three games in his first two IPL seasons, but remained wicketless and didn’t get too much with the bat as well. However, when the wickets came for him it came in heaps as Harpreet Brar put in a man of the match performance against RCB in 2020, where he became the first player to dismiss Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers and Glenn Maxwell in the same game. Since then, Harpreet Brar has been a handy all-rounder for Punjab Kings in the IPL, doing a job whenever called upon.
