Profile

An aggressive batsman, Neil Broom made his international debut against the visiting West Indies in 2009 in an ODI. He was given his T20I debut the same year versus the Aussies. Broom showcased glimpses of his big hitting prowess in a sparkling cameo. Thereafter, his performances were only middling and was dropped. He forced his way back into the T20 setup on the back of a highly fruitful World T20 League in India in 2013.

Broom lashed 117 off a mere 56 balls for Otago Volts against Perth Scorchers and thus reached the highest score in the World T20 League over 5 seasons. He is severe on anything short and is capable of clearing the infield with ease when in full flow. If Broom can add the string of consistency to his attacking bow, he will prove to be a regular feature for New Zealand, at least in the limited overs formats.

Six years after playing his last ODI, Broom made a comeback to the New Zealand set-up. The series against Bangladesh was a successful one for the right-hander as he scored a hundred in only his second game. Since then, the Canterbury man has been a regular feature in the short forms for New Zealand.
