India
For how long have we seen Indian ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni rue the lack of a medium-pace all-rounder in the Indian team? Abhishek Nayar had all the attributes to be the answer to Dhoni's question. But as fate had it, Nayar could never become a regular in the Indian side. The Mumbai-lad did not have threatening pace but has been a decent performer with the bat and ball for Mumbai in the domestic circuit for sometime now.
Nayar's consistency has earned him a place with different IPL sides so far. He was even made part of the Indian team during the tour of West Indies in 2009 and subsequently played the Champions Trophy as well. However, Nayar's India days never looked resplendent and he soon found himself out of favour. These days he continues to be a pillar in the Mumbai middle order and would hope that luck smiles on him once again.
