West Indies
Joshua da Silva is of Portuguese descent, having a Canadian Portuguese mother while his dad is a Trinidadian. He is the first white player to represent the West Indies since Brendon Nash. Da Silva made 507 runs at an average of 50.7 in the 2019-20 domestic season, and was eventually selected for the national team. Da Silva made his debut in December, 2020 against New Zealand, after the regular wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich left the squad for personal reasons.
Since then, he has claimed the wicketkeeper’s spot for himself, being part of the squad in all subsequent games. He scored his maiden Test century in 2022 at Grenada, as West Indies claimed a memorable series win against England. He has been a steady performer for West Indies in Test cricket, without really setting the world ablaze though so far. Joshua da Silva has also been part of the St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots since 2020 in the Caribbean Premier League.
