Profile

Andrew McDonald is a tall right-handed all-rounder from Victoria, Australia. He has had a good amount of success ever since his debut in the first-class format in the 2001/02 season. He represents Victoria in the Australian domestic circuit. However, just when he was about to make it big, a finger injury came as a big blow to him and he could not play many games in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons.

However, he returned injury-free the next season and did exceptionally well. A couple of years later, the selectors handed him the Test cap to reward his performances in the domestic format and he took the field at the Sydney Cricket Ground and took the field against the visiting South Africans in 2009. He was also selected for the away series against the same opposition but he failed to impress with the bat scoring only a highest of 68. With the ball though he did fairly well but the selectors did not invest in him again.

With age not on his side, he never played for Australia again but still continues to be a big hit in the domestic matches.

His all-round abilities have made him a player that very franchise wants to have in their side. In the Big Bash League, he represents the Melbourne Renegades since 2011 while he also played for the Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
