Dale Richards

West Indies

Profile

An eye-catching stroke-player, Dale Richards cemented his top slot for Barbados following the departure of Sherwin Campbell. After toiling at the domestic level for close to a decade, Richards began his Test career against Bangladesh in 2009 albeit in bizarre circumstances when the West Indies first XI went on protest, thus boycotting the series owing to pay issues. He played both Tests, scoring 108 runs before featuring in the Champions Trophy the same year.

He was later called back for the home ODI series against South Africa in 2010 as a cover for the injured Shivnarine Chanderpaul, while offering a stand-by option for the then out of form Andre Fletcher. The opener hit two fifties there albeit in losing causes. Soon after, he disappeared from the international scene.
