Profile

Nkala is a member of the Ndebele tribe. He came into the spotlight during the U-19 World Cup where he was the joint highest wicket-taker with 16 wickets, along with West Indian Ramnaresh Sarwan. Nkala is predominantly an in-swinging medium pacer who could bat a bit. After an impressive U-19 WC, he was straightaway drafted to play for the National side and made his ODI debut against India in 1998. However, he had to wait for 2 more years to get his first Test cap and he got it against England at Trent Bridge in 2000.

Nkala was not a regular member of the side, since he was competing with the likes of Streak, Blignaut and Olonga. But, he got his chance when the rebellious players were axed. He played 10 Tests and 50 ODIs, and was very inconsistent. The last match he played for Zimbabwe was an ODI in December 2006. After that he started coaching The Harefield Academy in Middlesex and also plays for them in the Home Counties Premier League Div. 2.

Interesting facts: He is commonly known as \"Physc\".
He has 13 siblings, 7 brothers and six sisters.
The first ODI wicket he took was of Sachin Tendulkar and that too off his second delivery in international cricket.
