Profile

Ragheb Aga is a Kenyan all-rounder who has also played county cricket for Sussex. He made his debut in the 2003-2004 Carib Cup against West Indies captaining the Under-19 side. He took 4 wickets in the game and earned a call-up for the 2004 Champions Trophy.

Tipped by Steve Tikolo as the future of Kenyan cricket, Aga was named as a stand-in captain for the Intercontinental Cup in November 2004. However, as he was studying in England at that time, his availability became a problem. In 2007, he obtained a British passport after gaining a contract with Sussex. He stayed with them for nearly 4 years but could not cement a place in the playing squad and was released in 2010.

After coming back, he has been an useful part of the Kenyan squad. He has enjoyed relatively more success in the T20I team as a handy bowler. Also, several of his performances with the bat have helped Kenya secure good wins over the opposition. During the World T20 qualifiers in November 2013 in a match against Scotland, Aga hit an aggressive 52 not out to help Kenya post an intimidating total of 183. He was also named as the Man of the Match for that game. In January 2014, in the World Cup Qualifier against Netherlands, Aga put up a 100+ stand with Irfan Karim scoring 86 that allowed Kenya to chase 265 and achieve a 4-wicket win.
