Profile

Floyd Reifer, who was nurtured under the guidance of Desmond Haynes and Malcom Marshall, was handed his ODI debut versus Sri Lanka in 1997. The left-handed batsman made his Test debut in the subsequent Test series but failed to create an impact, thus dropping down in the pecking order. He was banished to the domestic scene for over a decade and returned to skipper the West Indies team in 2009, albeit in a crisis. He captained a depleted West Indies team, which included seven newbies in the home series against Bangladesh with the first XI boycotting the series over an acute pay dispute. Shorn of experience, West Indies were blanked both in Tests and ODIs. With the senior players and WICB reaching a truce shortly after the Champions Trophy, Reifer was deposited out of the line-up.

He performed the dual role of player-cum-coach for Combined Campuses and Collages before retiring from competitive cricket in 2014.
