Profile

Pushpakumara is a Sri Lankan all-rounder who bowls right arm off-break and bats left-handed. He is more of a bowling all-rounder, who can come in handy with the bat lower down the order. Even after playing more than 100 first class games, Pushpakumara had to wait for a long time to represent his country. The opportunity came by when he was selected for the tour of India, he made his debut in the 5th game of the ODI series and scored 7 before rain abandoned the game. However, he was retained in the squad for the tri-series that involved India and Bangladesh. Unfortunately, in the two matches that he played in the tournament, he didn't bowl or bat in one and bowled only 5 overs in the other. Since that series he has been overlooked and has been preferred to Senanayake.
