Profile

A right-arm medium pacer, Dawlat Ahmadzai began playing cricket at the age of 12 for a club in Peshawar. Five years later in 2001, he was a part of the first squad of Afghan cricketers selected to form the basis for a national side. After Afghanistan achieved the ODI status in the 2009 World Cup qualifiers, Ahmadzai created history taking Afghanistan's first ever ODI wicket when he dismissed Scotland's Gavin Hamilton.

Ahmadzai also played a crucial role in Afghanistan's memorable 7-wicket win over defending champions Ireland in the Intercontinental Cup when he took 5 for 52 in Ireland's second innings.

Ahmadzai is also a trained fitness coach and a part of the Afghan Youth Cricket Support Organization since its inception.
