Profile

Born on June 30, 1988, Mirwais Ashraf is an allrounder in the Afghanistan national team. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pacer. He is a kind of bowler, who is known for supporting his team well with economical performances and scoring useful runs with the bat, lower down the order.

Ashraf made his ODI debut against the Netherlands at the VRA Cricket Ground on August 30, 2009. He had also made his First-Class debut against them in Afghanistan's debut match in the Intercontinental Cup, where in the second innings he took 4/24 to help Afghanistan to a historic win by one wicket. He made his T20I debut in 2010 against Canada but went wicketless in that game.

Ashraf has not been a natural at T20 cricket and has struggled but in the recent past has churned some handy performances for Afghanistan in the 50-over game. Ashraf started for Afghanistan in most of their games in UAE just before the 2015 World Cup. Even though his batting average is only around 15, he can be lethal lower down the order. He could turn out to be a very useful allrounder for the national team during the 2015 World Cup.
