Profile

A professional footballer, an injury forced Bulbul as he is commonly known, into a cricketer. Bangladesh's late entry into international cricket meant that Aminul was past his prime when he played his nation's first ever Test match against India. It was a memorable match for the country and Bulbul made it an occasion to remember by grinding out a patient 145 in his debut innings.

He had modest efforts later on, but this one innings made him an overnight national hero. Aminul loved to feast on the Indian bowlers. His best ODI effort came against India, 70 at Mohali in 1998.

Aminul was also a part of 3 ICC trophy tournaments and played a vital role in their victorious 1997 campaign which helped the then associates to qualify for the 1999 WC, their first ever WC. After his retirement, Aminul is a part of the Asian Cricket Council and currently resides in Malaysia. He is also part of the team that is developing cricket in China.
