Profile

Kevin Arnott's name will forever be attached to Zimbabwean cricket history. He was on strike for the first ball of the country's maiden Test in 1992 and that's a feat nobody forgets. This event side, Arnott was a rock-solid opening batsman who had no real glaring weakness in his technique. He also had the ability to concentrate for long period and while it did make for frustrating viewing at times due to the incredibly slow scoring rate, Arnott often did his job which was to blunt the new ball and tire out the opposition bowlers. The Harare man was also a gun fielder, particularly in the cover and point regions. He was among the several talented Zimbabwean stars who couldn't play much Test cricket as they were already ageing by the time the country became a full-member nation. Financial issues were also a prime reason which forced Arnott to immerse himself into business.
