Zimbabwe
One of the pivots of Zimbabwe's bowling in the early 90s, albeit for a brief period, David Brain was an effective left-arm pacer who had the ability to seam the ball both ways. The awkward left-armer's angle further helped him pick up scalps. With the bat, Brain was a touch too flashy but entertaining nonetheless, making him an entertaining package to have in the side. Brain was a part of Zimbabw's first ever Test win, that came at home against Pakistan. His international career lasted a mere three years with his peak being in the 1993-94 season where he literally spearheaded Zimbabwe's attack in all conditions. Considering the fact that his team was only an emerging side with low financial stability, Brain opted for a secure future which meant continuing with the family business that he had already been a part of, during his early cricketing days. This resulted in him cutting short his professional cricketing career.
