Profile

Having endured a brief and unimpressive career both in domestic and Test cricket, Sridharan Jeganathan’s claim to fame is an unwanted one. He was the first Sri Lankan Test player to pass away, and that too at a very young age of 44. At his best, Sridharan was a restrictive left-arm finger spinner whose modus operandi revolved around accuracy and bowling long tireless spells, pitching the ball on a good length for a long period, thereby frustrating batsmen into dismissals. His extremely high bowling strike-rates are reflective of his style of bowling and Sridharan never was a spinner who could run through sides. As a batsman, he was handy down the order and while his contributions weren’t always big, he could stick it out to help specialist batsmen forge partnerships.
