Haroon Rasheed

Pakistan

Profile

Haroon Rasheed as a cricketer made news with his swashbuckling batting and post his playing days made news as a selector. Born in a cricket loving family, Haroon was the only one of his seven brothers who could represent Pakistan at the top-level.

Not someone who believed in moving his feet, Haroon's game was based on power. Back-to-back tons against England at home followed by a bargain of 33 runs in 5 innings in England spoke about the two ends of the spectrum he could be. Rasheed ended up playing 23 Tests and 12 ODIs and failed to achieve the heights that were expected of him.

He worked as a manager with the Pakistani cricket team between 2003 and 2005. Rasheed was appointed as the Chief selector in 2015 and was sacked in 2016 after Pakistan exited the 2016 T20 World Cup early. But then he was given the role of Director Cricket Operations in April 2017.
