Pakistan

Profile

A left arm pacer, capable of genuine pace, Saleem Jaffar appeared in 14 Tests and 39 ODIs for Pakistan. He made his Test and ODI debuts against West Indies in 1986 after racking up some fine domestic displays. Though an ill-fated injury forced him out of the English tour in 1987, he came back and produced his maiden and only 5-fer against New Zealand in 1988-89.

Then, Jaffar suffered a big slump in form and was axed from the team. He last played a Test against Sri Lanka at Faisalabad in 1991-92. Post retirement, he served as a selector for PCB.
