Profile

One of the youngest debutants ever (although Pakistan withdrew the claim after a controversy erupted), Raza is another of those breed of Pakistani cricketers whose career fell off after an impressive start.

Making his international debut at the age 14 years and 227 days (disputed later), then a world record, Raza found it extremely tough at the international stage. After a brief struggle, he was sent back to the domestic circles. Making a comeback during the home series against Australia at Sharjah, he responded with half-centuries and seemed to have set himself for a long run in the national team.

However, it was followed by another string of low scores eventually leading to his ouster from the squad. Raza played his last Test against England at home in 2005. Despite being a prolific scorer at the domestic circles, Raza has been overlooked by the selection panel as he failed to translate his form into the international stage.

Raza had a brief stint with the banned Indian Cricket League and emerged as the top-scorer in the first season of the tournament.
