Profile

A strong and stout fast bowler, Shahid, made his Test debut in a game where Wasim Akram scored 257 against Zimbabwe at Sheikhupura in 1996 coming in at number 8. So, Shahid's fifer in his first spell of bowling at the international level was put in the back-burner. He ended up picking two more wickets in the second essay and Pakistan completed a win from behind. Post a glorious debut, a tour to Lanka didn't help his numbers and he had a lay-off for two years after 1997. A single Test in 1999 and then back to the grind of domestic circuit.

He kept on plundering wickets at the domestic level and came back in 2006 for tours to England and South Africa but meagre success closed the doors for him in Whites. A contract with the ICL killed any sort of a hope for a comeback. He had moderate success in the ODIs but was a part of the team that won a tri-series in Australia that featured Windies as the third team. His three-fer in the second final helped Pakistan defend 165.

Nazir played first-class cricket till 2011 and ended with 458 wickets from 130 games.
