Profile

Vijay Yadav came into prominence in the 1990s by showcasing good keeping skills for Haryana in the Ranji Trophy. On his day, he was also an electrifying batsman. However, he played during a time when Kiran More was still around and after More was dropped, Nayan Mongia was preferred. So Yadav had a checkered international career, where he played a solitary Test and a few ODIs.

If we look back at Yadav's career, it was his neat wicket-keeping skills in 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons that brought him into the limelight. He was selected for the tour of South Africa in 1992-93, with More as the main keeper. Yadav got the chance to make his ODI debut during that tour, but didn't play a single Test. He eventually made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in Delhi in 1993.

Yadav then went on to play a handful of ODIs. But with the emergence of Mongia, Yadav lost his place in the side. He continued to play in domestic cricket until the 1998-99 season.
