Profile

An off-spinner by trade, Paul Wiseman is more known for his discipline rather than spitting turn. He enjoyed a sweet Test debut in 1998 in Colombo, where he snapped up a 5-fer in the second innings. He showed signs of proving to be an able foil for Daniel Vettori but flattered only to deceive.

His inconsistency meant that he was shunted in an out of the side until 2005. Wiseman was a 'cushion bowler' on tours to the subcontinent but was relegated to the sidelines elsewhere with the bowling revolving around pace coupled with Vettori, who was the first choice spinner.

A metronomic bowler, 'Whiz' could not fare better in ODIs either. After drifting away from the international radar Wiseman joined Durham. He parted ways with Durham in 2009 to take up a coaching position with Canterbury.
