Courtney Browne - West Indies - Batsman

Courtney Browne

Courtney Browne

West Indies

Profile

Born in London, Courtney Browne was the captain of Barbados when he made his debut for West Indies. With Junior Murray's keeping technique carrying too many loopholes, Browne as identified as the next keeper batsman for West Indies. However, he only flattered to deceive. The cut throat competition from Murray and Ridley Jacobs did not help his cause either.

With his batting failing to pass muster, Browne was axed from the team. After four long years he was called back for the ICC Knockout tourney in 2000. With the emergence of Ridley Jacobs though, Browne was left cooling his heels.

In a pleasant surprise, Browne was back for the Champions Trophy in 2004 in England, where he enjoyed the highest point of his chequered career, guiding West Indies to the title in a tense final. The following year he called it quits on personal terms.
