Profile

A leg spinner, Dinnath Ramnarine, was then expected to become the spin leader of West Indies cricket in a period of stagnation. However, he stumbled, especially off the field with his international career getting stalled.

Ramnarine openly blasted the West Indies Cricket board over contract issues aside from picking up an ugly on field spat with Captain Carl Hooper in his last Test, which came against Pakistan in Sharjah in 2002. Overall he featured in 12 Tests and 4 ODIs, collecting 45 and 3 wickets respectively.

After numerous fallouts with the administration, the Trinidadian retired at the age of 28 to head the West Indies Players Association. He aggressively represented the interests of the players in negotiations with the WICB. Notably, the WIPA adopted a new, radical constitution under his leadership.
