Profile

An opening basman-keeper, Ramdass joined the Everest Cricket Club, where his father was already a member. After honing his skills there, he made his First Class debut, figuring for West Indies A against Kenya after which he essayed his maiden appearance for Guyana in the semi-final against Barbados, compiling a fifty.

In 2005, Guyana endured disastrous floods, demolishing the Ramdass family business-poultry farming. However, he did not let the setback affect his game as he shone brightly in West Indies A tour to Sri Lanka. The upshot was that the Guyanese player was handed his Test debut for the senior team versus Sri Lanka the same year. His maiden ODI appearance also came against Sri Lanka.

Facing the likes of Murali and Vass, Ramdass yielded, squirting out just 26 in in 2 innings in his first and hitherto last Test. A similar scenario applied to his ODI career. His First Class career, which was riddled with injuries and indifferent form, also did not take off as expected.
