Profile

Most fast bowlers in their 30's would be in the twilight of their career but that was not the case with Elworthy. He came into the spotlight when he was 32, picking up 52 wickets at an average of 18.11 in first-class cricket helped him gain his first international cap. Even though Elworthy took 8 wickets in his second match against New Zealand, he had to wait for 3 more years to play another Test.

However, he was a regular in the ODI squad and played 39 games and picked up 44 wickets. He was also a useful lower-order batsman who has a List A hundred to his name as well as 100 fifties in first-class cricket.

After retiring from cricket, Elworthy has been a successful administrator as Cricket South Africa's commercial and communications manager. He was also the tournament director for the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa. In 2010, England and Wales Cricket Board appointed him as Director of Marketing and Communications.
