Adam Dale - Australia - Batsman

A rhythm bowler at his best, Adam Dale was a skillful swing and seam bowler who served Australia for barely two years, mostly in ODIs although he did play two Tests as well. He had the rare ability to get movement in the air and off the pitch, thereby proving to be a thorn in the flesh of opposition batsmen. Dale was also a very accurate bowler who loved to string in a succession of tidy overs to build pressure apart from troubling the batsmen with his movement. Another quality of Dale was the fact that he almost always delivered the ball from very close to the stumps at the non-striker's end. In fact, there were quite a few instances of him disturbing the stumps as well. As a bowler, he was canny and could more than hang about with the bat as well while on the field, he was supple and reliable.

Originally from Victoria, Dale chose to shift to Queensland to expand his cricketing fortunes. It also helped that his job got him a transfer to the same place, a major reason behind his decision. The result was instant for Dale as he made his domestic debut in the 1995-96 season and within a couple of years, got picked to represent the country. Although prolific in both formats in the domestic circuit, it was in ODIs that Dale got a better run for Australia. He would mostly relish bowling with the new ball due to his ability to swing it prodigiously. Dale was a part of the World Cup winning squad in 1999. A shoulder injury cut short his ambitions of stretching his career further and he decided to quit at the end of the 2002-03 domestic season.
