Mick Lewis - Australia - Bowler

Records are meant to be broken... No matter what we write or what we say, it's only human for a cricketer to feel sad when his long-standing record gets bettered. But there are certain records that no one wants to hold. One of those is the record for conceding most runs in an ODI. Victorian Mick Lewis made the dubious record - 0-113 in 10 overs - in the epic clash that saw South Africa scale down Australia's 434 in 2006.

And unlike life, which - sometimes - throws up second chances, Lewis did not get any other chance and the match turned out to be his last outing for Australia in ODIs. For start, Lewis's career did not involve much academy days and a move to Melbourne saw him play grade cricket before he made his first class debut at the age of 25. Known for his aggressive skiddy bowling, Lewis grabbed a fifer during the Pura Cup final 2000-01 and backed the performance with some consistent showing in subsequent years.

He earned the CA contract during 2004-05 and people started talking about him being an Ashes prospect in the longer run. The ODI debut for the team came at the age of 31. Lewis was known for his death bowling expertise but all that seemed to have vanished on that fateful day in Johannesburg when the South Africans clubbed him all-around the park to hand Australia one of the most embarrassing losses. He soon lost the CA's contract and was relegated to domestic cricket. Things did not take a pleasant turn and he suffered a hip injury and eventually dropped out due to poor form before announcing his retirement during the 2007-08 season.
