Paul Allott

England

Profile

A skilful right-arm pacer with a rhythmic run-up, Paul Allott broke into the English Test side on the back of taking 8-48 for Lancashire. He scored a handy half-century lower down the order (his maiden first-class half-century) on his maiden Test appearance after the batsmen folded meekly. He also chipped in with 4 wickets However, Allott failed to sustain the early promise and his Test career was restricted to only 13 games. He played an identical number of ODIs before being dispatched from the England set-up.

However, he continued to excel as a strike bowler for Lancashire until his retirement in 1993. Post retirement, Allott made a relatively seamless transition into the commentary box.
