Richard Illingworth

England

Profile

Born August 23, 1963, Greengates, Bradford, Yorkshire, Richard Illingworth played 9 Tests and 25 ODIs with only modest success to show for. Illingworth was not known for his ripping turn but for his accuracy and discipline.

He was dropped after his first two Tests but then came back in 1995. Unfortunately, he fell short of nailing a permanent berth in the English side. Illingworth was more effective in county cricket, taking over 1000 wickets in first-class and county cricket put together. After retiring from all forms of competitive cricket, Richard Illingworth became an umpire. He joined ICC's elite umpire panel in 2013.
