Peter Martin

England

Profile

A right-arm pacer, who swung the ball lavishly in his pomp, Peter Martin was one of the most penetrative opening bowlers in the history of Lancashire cricket. His hard toil in county cricket was rewarded when he was picked in the England XI against West Indies in the 2nd ODI at the Oval in London. Martin enjoyed a superb debut, he produced a match-winning 4-44, claiming the wickets of Campbell, Lara, Adams and Ambrose. He made his Test debut the very next month but did not manage to make an impact. His bowling was found out at the highest level and his last international appearance came in 1998 in Dhaka in the ICC Knockout Trophy.

Injuries forced him to retire from all forms of competitive cricket in 2004.
