Profile

A strapping all-rounder, Ian Austin served Lancashire with distinction for over a decade. His forte was to generate nagging seam movement off the deck and fire yorkers at the death. His fine efforts in the domestic circuit were rewarded when he was picked in the England team for the Emirates Triangular tournament in 1998. He chipped in with a couple of wickets on his debut and managed to hang onto his spot for the 1999 World Cup. However, he was ineffective and the selectors lost faith in him.

Austin retired from all forms of cricket at the close of 2003.
