Profile

Born on July 8, 1987, Mehrab is a left handed middle order batsman who also bowls left arm orthodox spin. Like all Bangladesh players, Mehrab too came from the ranks of the U-19 team. He has also captained the Bangladesh Academy team on a tour of Pakistan and has featured in the 'A' team as well.

Mehrab debuted against Sri Lanka at Colombo in July 2007 and returned with two single digit knocks. However, he came into his own in his next outing scoring a fine 83 against New Zealand and was involved in a 144 run stand for the 5th wicket with Mushfiqur Rahim. This innings though was followed by a string of failures that led to him being axed from the squad in early 2009.

Mehrab has now fallen well down the pecking order and would need to compile some big scores to inch closer towards a spot in the Bangladesh line-up.

He shares his name with another Bangladeshi cricketer Mehrab Hossain, hence the addition of Junior at the end of his name.
