Profile

Harry Gurney made his first-class debut for Leicestershire in 2007 as a left-arm fast bowler after having tasted relative success in Leicestershire's second team. Before breaking through into first-class cricket, Gurney played club cricket for Loughborough Town CC and the Leeds/Bradford UCCE. He was impressive playing for Leeds/Bradford university when he dismissed Michael Vaughan and Jacques Rudolph at the start of the season.

Gurney proved himself as an useful T20 specialist when he took 23 wickets for Leicestershire in their title winning campaign.
At the end of the 2011 season, Gurney joined Nottinghamshire and picked up 21 wickets in 10 championship appearances. He doubled the number of scalps in 2013 and established himself as a promising domestic performer.

His antics at the first-class level were finally noticed when he was named in England's limited overs squad to tour West Indies. He was also named as a travelling reserve for the World T20 in Bangladesh. Equipped with good pace and variety, Gurney is an established bowler in the county circuit. His penchant for taking top-order wickets and bowling well in the death overs, has earned him a reputation of being a seriously competent left-arm seamer.
