Profile

As Lancashire's star player, Stephen Parry had a dream debut when he picked up five wickets against Durham in April 2007. At the end of the 2009 season, he was named as Lancashire's Young Player of the Year. With no dearth of quality left-arm spinners in the squad, Simon Kerrigan was preferred over Parry in the four-day team but with a string of consistent performances, Parry found his way into the England Lions squad for their triangular series with India A and West Indies A.

At the time of his selection, Parry was the leading wicket taker for Lancashire in the 2010 Friends Provident t20 and was the fourth-highest wicket overall. He made his England Lions debut against India A and took three wickets in that game. Throughout 2011, he was a regular in the list A and T20 sides picking up wickets at regular intervals.

After delivering several consistent performances, Parry received a call-up to the Potential England Performance Programme but he sustained an injury and was replaced by fellow left-arm spinner David Wainwright as a precaution. However, fate smiled upon him in early 2014 when he was called up to the senior squad and made his ODI debut against West Indies at Antigua. He took 3 wickets and was adjudged as the Man of the Match in England's 25-run win over the hosts in the 2nd ODI, on debut and also featured in the next ODI. He made his T20I debut on the same tour and also managed to play against Netherlands in the 2014 World T20.
