Profile

A slow left-arm orthodox spinner by trade, Simon Kerrigan got a surprise call up for the 2013 Ashes in England. He was handed his debut in the fifth Test at the Oval. Playing under-study to the experienced Graeme Swann, Kerrigan, who was riddled with stage fright, leaked 53 runs in 8 overs as the Aussie batsmen feasted on the full tosses and half-trackers. He has still not recovered from the lashing and it will be interesting to see if he can mend his bowling and return to the international scene.

However, he has been an impressive performer for the England Lions and with Gary Keedy shifting to Surrey, Kerrigan has become Lancashire's front-line spinner.
