Profile

Alex Obanda is a strong top-order batsman who represented Kenya at the Under-17 level. in 2007, he achieved good success in Zimbabwe's Logan Cup when he scored 386 runs at an average of 38.6 including a maiden first-class ton. This performance earned him a place in the Africa XI squad for the Afro-Asia Cup in June. However, he was not able to capitalize on this opportunity as he scored three ducks in four innings. Despite the failure, Obanda was selected in the full Kenyan side for the T20 World Championship.

In the World T20 Qualifier in March 2012, Obanda was Kenya's leading run-scorer with 298 runs in 9 games, including 2 fifties. However, Kenya failed to qualify for the tournament. Obanda has been an aggressive opener for Kenya in the last few years and has been responsible in providing them fantastic starts.
