Profile

The 26-year-old opening batsman Javed Ahmadi was born in a refugee camp in Peshawar and he had to move to Afghanistan to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional cricketer. He was looked as a child-prodigy in Afghanistan cricket and made his debut at the highest level in 2010 when he was just 18.

He led his country to the plate finals in the 2012 under-19 World Cup and finished the tournament as the third highest scorer. After the end of the World Cup, he had to take a flight of 15 hours to reach on time for the Afghanistan senior team match against Australia.

He has impressed one and all in Afghanistan cricket with his captaincy credentials at the under-19 level and is being touted as the future leader. But at the international level, he has not been able to justify his talent and thus far his performances have been below average. Hopefully, soon he will be able to replicate his under-19 heroics at the highest level too.
