Profile

Peter Nevill moved to New South Wales from Victoria in 2008. Since then he has been a permanent fixture in the NSW side, even though there is Brad Haddin. The wicket-keeper played as a specialist batsman when Haddin was off national duties. Nevill had a good first class season in 2011-12 scoring 570 runs at 51.81. That earned him a call to the tour of West Indies as a back up keeper for Matthew Wade. However, he didn't get a game on that tour.

Nevill went back to Sheffield Shield and kept scoring runs in abundance. He had an excellent 2014-15 season where he was eight in the run-scoring list. He also registered his highest first class score - 235 in that season. Hence he was given another opportunity. And in the 2015 Ashes series, Nevill made his debut in the second Test after Haddin pulled out. A strong performance ensured he kept Haddin out for a longer time.
